Work is underway on the foundations for the new Staff Accomodation Block at Casa Reom. This is the final building planned for the site and is funded by donations from supporters.

The Staff Accomodation Block is being designed flexibly to house several families or a team of single workers. Currently staff accomodation is available in the smaller rooms of the boys dormitory, so the new block will free up more room for them.

Look out for fundraising events but meanwhile you can donate using the link at the top of this webpage.

Thanks to everyone who gave to the 2021 Christmas Appeal. The money was used to buy gifts and clothes for the boys and provided some special celebration meals for the staff and boys over the Christmas and New Year period.

But it was also an opportunity for Casa Reom Staff and Boys to be generous to their neighbours. Gifts of school uniforms and food were donated to some of the poorest families living nearby.

Thanks to a Swiss donor, Casa Reom has been able to open a new computer suite on the Inhamizua site.

This will be used to train the boys at Casa Reom in using computers to give them an advantage in future employment.

Casa Reom's new kitchen is now up and running with staff and boys able to cook with gas rather than charcoal fires. Most rural families use charcoal which can cause health issues and is more expensive. Learning to cook with gas is a key skill that all the boys can learn as they take turns on the kitchen rota.

These pictures show Jone who is using the cooking skills he is learning at the nearby Young Africa centre and which could lead to job opportunites in the future or even a new career!

The boys also learn how to grow food in the Casa Reom garden so they know how to be self sufficient when they leave the centre.
