Work on renovations of the YWAM Beira building in the centre of Beira are nearing completion. Under the "Build Back Better" scheme (nothing to do with the UK initiative - we thought of it first!) donations from YWAM supporters all over the world has allowed the floors and roof to be completely replaced after the damage from cyclone Idai.

As well as using local construction companies, some of the renovation work has been carried out by ex-Casa Reom boys trained in electrical work and construction. Arquilino was able to use these wages to put a deposit on a piece of land for his own house which he plans to build himself.

Why not give a gift that makes a difference this Christmas.

We've teamed up with Making a Difference to bring you Christmas Cards and Gift Vouchers for Casa Reom, including some special Casa Reom designs like the one shown here.

You can choose from over 1300 designs, customise your message/text, upload your own photos, send an audio or video message and have them delivered by post, email or text message.

Monteiro, one of the older Casa Reom boys, attended his graduation ceremony this week after completing his training as a teacher of Physical Education. The staff put on a special celebration party in the new dining room at Casa Reom with a meal, drinks and a celebration cake.

Monteiro's specialist sports subjects were basketball and netball,  but he is also qualified to teach geography and Portuguese at primary level. He was due to begin a probationary teaching placement in 2020 but due to schools closing this has been deferred.

You can read more about Monteiro here:

Just over a week since Nelio was brutally attacked in his home, he has left hospital and returned to be with his family.

Nelio joined Casa Reom with his family in May 2019. With his wife Tabita, they are contributing so much to life in the centre. Nelio's tailoring skills are being passed on to the boys at Casa Reom and does a lot of the day-to-day management on site. We continue to pray for his full recovery.

A special appeal has been launched to pay for additional security measures at their home and to help with other expenses associated with Nelio's recovery.
